Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Process and trauma-informed AI learning tools
What is Process and how is it different from other mental health apps?
Made by and for people living with complex trauma, Process is an AI tool trained on trauma-informed principles and established educational approaches. Unlike generic mental health apps that focus on general anxiety or depression, we address the emotional dysregulation and other challenges specific to complex trauma. Our AI guides you in understanding how you feel, and giving yourself the unconditional love and care you need, responding with trauma-informed education rather than generic "just breathe" advice.
Is Process a replacement for therapy?
No, Process is not a replacement for professional therapy. We're designed as an educational tool that can-
- Complement your therapy: Use insights from Process to prepare for therapy sessions and continue learning between appointments
- Bridge gaps in care: Provide educational support when you can't access therapy or between sessions
- Support the majority of complex trauma survivors who don't have access to trauma-informed resources
Think of us as an educational companion who understands complex trauma and can help you learn about your emotional patterns safely at your own pace.
We always encourage users to seek professional mental health care when possible. Process is designed to enhance your understanding and learning, not replace professional treatment.
What if I'm in crisis?
Process is not equipped for crisis intervention. If you're experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please reach out for immediate help:
- Emergency Services: 911
- National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 988
- Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741
- Your local emergency room or crisis center
Our AI can recognize crisis language and will provide these resources, but we cannot replace emergency mental health services. Your safety is the top priority.
